Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find an answer to all your burning questions!
Why does my candle have oil beads on the top?

Small pools of oil or beads is known as sweating and is normal to see in natural wax. Soy wax is temperature sensitive and when subject to heat the fragrance oil can separate from the wax leaving pools of oil on the top of the candle. To avoid this happening ensure your candle is placed in a room where the temperature isn't constantly changing. Use a paper towel to gently remove any oil on the
top of the candle.

How can I reuse my candle jar?

We have always loved the idea of reusing our candle jars. If this is something you're interested in to stick around to find
out how!

When your candle has come to the
end of its burn, pour hot water in the jar and allow the wax to surface to the top. Water and oil don't mix so the wax will get hot and float to the top, once the water cools it will solidify. From here you can remove the wax out of the jar along with the woodwick. Give it a wipe inside and there you have it and empty jar ready to be used again!

Help! My candle has tunnelled!

Don't stress! If your candle has only just started to tunnel you can fix it by placing alfoil around the candle jar and slightly covering the top leaving a gap to light the candle. Once the candle is lit it will trap the heat inside burning to the edge.

To avoid this from happening
make sure your first burn goes to the edge of the candle as this creates a memory to the candle to burn to.

Why does my candle have black smoke/ flame burning too high?

If your candle starts to release
black smoke or the flame is burning too high it is a sign the wick is too long for the candle causing it to burn faster than it can reach the wax. To avoid this, ensure the wick is trimmed before each use. The same goes for if the candle is producing a small flame, this could indicate the wick is too long.

How do I trim a candle wick?

Our wooden wicks are super easy
to trim! If you don’t have a wick trimmer on hand you can use small scissors however the best way is to use clippers or even pinch the top of the wick.
